NaNoWriMo November 2nd

Standard

My word count total is 3755 today

It may be difficult to find the time to write but it can be done. You just have to want to write bad enough. (Does that make sense:-)

There are always going to be interruptions and things to do and responsibilities.

For instance, I am in the middle of selling my house, as of yesterday. Yes, the same day NaNoWriMo started.

Selling a house is a royal pain in the butt, as it means:

  1. Keeping the house spotless
  2. Moving a whole lot of “stuff” out of sight when there’s a showing
  3. Having to physically leave the home during the hour or so when the realtor will be bringing the prospective buyer/s through
  4. Having to be close to the cellphone at all times

It isn’t easy. So far I’ve been able to write in the early mornings, before the realtors are awake. I hope to continue this practice for the rest of November or until the house sells.

NaNoWriMo November First

Standard

Well, I started NaNoWriMo this morning. Got in 1700 words today.

November is also NaBloPoMo or National Blog Posting Month. I am going to participate in that too.

Today’s post:

Winning NaNoWriMo

I’ve succeeded at NaNoWriMo each of the last four years. Here’s my secret.

Don’t overwrite (and don’t look back).

First, write for that day’s total. Do not look ahead and wonder how you will ever reach your goal of 50,000 words. Write at least 1600 to 1700 words. Then stop for the day. Why push yourself? Save some energy for tomorrow, and the day after and the day after that.

Second, don’t edit what you’ve got so far. Keep writing. Move forward. Never mind  if you awaken in the middle of the night, haunted by a plot hole large enough to drive a semi truck through. The problems with story will wait. Move along.

My tips. Hope they help you too!
