That is a Kangaroo

Standard

Boomers are a name for kangaroos in Australia.

The term was also coined for persons born in certain decades.

Do the two people in the photo above look like they deserve some hate?

I have a complaint today and I am angry.

In this century, political correctness has gotten out of hand, and I admit that I believe this to be true.

One cannot say what they think in many cases, for fear of being reprimanded, fired and/or vilified.

A recent example comes to mind, when Canada’s hockey icon, Don Cherry, was fired for a rant about immigrants not buying and wearing poppies for Remembrance Day.

His tirade was probably unjustified, but should he have lost his job?

On to another part of this rant.

Since when is it acceptable to discriminate and distribute hate speech?

Never, you say?

Than how about “boomers”?

I have unsubscribed from a number of pages on Facebook, that I had liked, because they have posted

hate speech against the elderly.

Why would it be alright to insult those older than millenials?

Since when did it become okay to hate on the basis of age?

Why is it allowed and accepted that a politician in New Zealand can insult a senior citizen by

saying, “Alright, boomer!”

How dare you insult my generation!

We were the hippies, the free love generation. We wanted “love, not war!”

We paved the way for the women’s movement, so that you ladies – and I use the term loosely –

could have equal pay for equal work, wear clothing without being ostracized as “sluts” and

swear like sailors. I add that, because that is apparently, what you like to do.

You millenials won’t take low paying jobs, or jobs that require menial labour, because it is

beneath you. You want to start with a high salary, and be given all the perks those who have

worked for years have earned. Sense of entitlement much?

Don’t like what I am saying?

Okay, then, stop lumping all of the people born in 1946 to 1964 as being responsible for your

unhappiness, lack of skills, and general well being.

Do you honestly think that I deliberately caused global warming?

Really?

Guess what?

I used cloth diapers on my son, and hung them out to dry in the air. Do you do that? Are you planning to

do that, when you have children?

I walked or hitchhiked everywhere I went in the early 1970s. Do you walk or bike or do you drive?

I voted for the politicians who said they would make a difference.

Have you voted at all?

Have you joined any organizations to make things morally and ethically right?

Enough.

I want you to stop spreading hate towards the older generations.

We do not deserve it.

Love and Peace.

Make That Loaf!

Standard

I have been MIA for a very long time! That might change in the new year.

I got stalled while writing my life story, and just never had the impetus to get back to it. Perhaps, with a new year dawning, and a more removed perspective, I can continue. I will try. It is not easy, but then, little of any value often is.

I have chosen a title, “Make That Loaf” for a reason. When my husband died, in 2017, I decided that I would dispose of my bread maker. After all, it was he who loved bread, and what did I need with a whole loaf, ever?

Times change. I have begun eating more bread, granted the kind bought in stores, that has all the extra good ingredients like whole grains and seeds.

I have rethought my choices, and maybe – just maybe – I will make a loaf of bread now and then. I can always freeze some or give some to my neighbour.

So, I suppose my message is, don’t make a decision too quickly – and

be willing to be open to change.

Second of all, don’t put off the things that matter.

If my husband and I had not gone to the USA, to Idaho and to Washington State, in the late 1990’s, if we had not travelled to Denmark and Germany in 2007, if we had not gone to England and Wales in 2011, we would not have *had time*. My husband became ill, and travel was out of the question by 2015.

So, like the meme I have seen on Facebook, eat that cake, buy the shoes, go on that trip.

Because…you just never know…..

Blessings and good wishes to any of you who have read this, and may the new year bring all your dreams to fruition.

Happy New Year!
